Consultations
We are pleased to offer consultations for those who wish to be seen with Ifá and the Meridilogún (Elegguá's Shells). These powerful oracles are consulted regularly, not only by practitioners in the religion, but by those outside of the religion as well. The Ifá and the Meridilogún oracles bring the power of Orunmila, Orisha of Wisdom and Knowledge (in the case of Ifá), or Elegguá, Messenger of the Orishas (in the case of the shells), to bear upon the situation that is affecting the person who has come to be seen. And by consulting the Orishas directly we can be assured of knowing what the Orishas require to help this person. Most people in the religion consult the oracles before doing anything of importance to ensure the blessings of the Orishas and to receive warning of any potential problems that might arise.
Another time we use the oracles is to ask permission of the Orishas before any initiations can be carried out. This is because it is the Orishas that choose whether a person can receive these initiations and not us. We cannot give the ilekes (the Necklaces), the Guerreros (Warriors) or any other initiation without consulting the oracles to know if the person is chosen or is not ready for these initiations yet.Please Note:
We're sorry, but we cannot do Ifá consultations over the phone or over the Internet. There are reasons for this. One, the Opele must be presented to the person as part of the beginning rites of the consultation process. Two, during the consultation the person is asked to hold certain objects called Ibo in their hands while questions are asked of Orunmila . And, since we are servants of the Orishas and therefore answerable to them, we will not invent or change the religion to suit the marketplace. We will, however, be happy to make an appointment for you whenever you might be in the Los Angeles area. Thank you for your understanding.
